Haha print from the toaster oven like I do sir! Get a thermometer with external probes. Drill a hole in it for a steel bar, flip the toaster on its side and use some washers in grooves cut in that bar to keep the spool from walking side to side. (Don’t want it touching the heating elements) I do this and print from it with a Ptfe tube going to my P1S, makes nylon easy.
Think UHMWP will ever be a filament? It’s actually used in a lot of ceramic hybrid body armor and is in its self pretty good at stopping several calibers.
I have a CR10S-5 that I have put a Bondtech Extruder, TH3D DBL Leveling Kit, a silicon heater mat, and a buildtak flex bed with printing surface. It has worked really well I even printed a full size R2D6 Dome in one shot without any issues (about two weeks of printing) except for a power outage that I was able to manually recover, which was not an issue with the printer. Printer sits an a large table from IKEA that is wobbly as heck and the print still came out surprisingly good.
It is still a fantastic printer! Not the fastest on the block but reliable and high quality. Nice upgrades!
What is it made out of?
This is mostly PLA. I plan to print the final suit in Carbon Fiber Nylon.
@@kerseyfabs super cool
So excited!
Me too!
Nice job, good sir. 👍🏻
Thank you!
Do you think it's better to use this firmware or and skr 1.4 turbo with the firmware you mentioned in another video? I followed that tutorial (the skr one with tmc 2208 drivers) but my printer stutters in movements and it really doesn't work but I can't fix it for the life of me
I wonder if it's possible to replicate this for other mask/helmets. 🤔
Was this part of a longer video? Id like to see the whole thing if possibly
Can we auto bed level using the this
another step closer to the real iron man experience
I'm working on it! Thanks! 🙏
The ultimate upgrade for the Ender 5 plus is a tie between the silent main board and direct drive extruder. Nice vid, but I am surprised you missed both of these.
How to add 2nd nozzle extrude
Thanks so much for this video! My printer has been out of service for a little while and this seems to have fixed the problem. It kept reverting to Chinese text but now it it stays in English.
Awesome! Glad to hear it worked!
So great to see a new video from you for this Ender 5plus. Does this firmware work for the V2.2.1 silent board? Thank you for all you do for the 3d printing community!
Yes it does! I appreciate it.
How many hours before you started having to do repairs?
Not long at all. This machine is still giving me problems. It's one repair away from going to the "dead to me" pile.
@@kerseyfabs good to know, I will as considering one. Thanks
Buddy it’s made in china (not trying to be racist but like…..)
What's your point?
you crazy mad professor guy you 👍
Thank you! 😄
As always, excellent video and suggestions. Please do a video touching on the WiFi and installing Marlin on this board. I am very interested in seeing how well it handles Marlin and if the performance is comparable. Thanks for doing such an excellent presentation on this install and testing of this board and screen set-up. Cheers
Lovely content ! I have got a Creality Spider Pro Hotend, which comes with a different thermistor suitable for 300 Deg C. Is there a way to modify the original firmware and adjust the Max Temp and thermistor settings (if needed)? Thank you for the shared support !
Hi, my name is Austin. I am a huge fan of yours. I was wondering if I could meet u someday? I have some cool build ideas.
Thank you and it's always possible to meet me at some of the conventions I attend. I always try to post them on social media. I'm at Dragon Con and MomoCon in Atlanta and I hope, as the years go on, I make it to more conventions around the country.
Hey, Isopropyl alcohol makes hotglue unstick from things, you could have just dumped some on the connector and pushed it out, the glue would have just slid out along with the terminal.
i now want to put some sort of maybe like a thermal camera in a mandalorian helmet, keep up the good work
So best way I’ve found to run a printer is with insulation so the bed heats faster and means the power supply can run cooler.
hi kris, I sent an email to you as requested, in relation to the direction problem I am having with my ender 5 plus. I haven't received a response as yet. I have been unable to find a solution to the problem of the hotbed moving down instead of up when levelling. PLEASE ,PLEASE , PLEASE can you give me help in resolving this. I am unable to use my machine until it is sorted.
i have just done this and all is well so far but i need to adjust e steps since i installed sprite direct drive and can't seem to find where i need to do that. your videos are soooo helpful. thank you
I need to put in a commission for a custom helmet but I am not sure who to reach out to
One like this with a HUD or just a regular Iron Man helmet?
I've been trying the last 4 hours to get this to work. I get to the compiling sketch step and my pc just completely freezes. I also tried my wife's pc and it does the same thing.......... I'm beyond frustrated... any ideas?
oh and now the menu on my printer is in chinese??? i turn it back to english and it just automatically goes back to chinese
I honestly have no idea. I showed my process and I haven't seen lockups. As for the Chinese, that's what happens when the display and firmware are not the right versions for each other.
@@kerseyfabs hhmmm....alright
Update on this. I just tried this again this morning and it everything worked fine... not sure if my pc was having a bad night or what. Lol thank you@kerseyfabs
Now just need a voice speaker.
I have one! People in person have heard it. Time for a video!
Display link doesn't work. Please update link.
I've added a new one for you. Here you go: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DkclJhD
thank you for the detailed vid! does this work with CR touch too?
It should be a drop in replacement.
@@kerseyfabs SHWEET! Saw your other vid with the dual filament hotend and you've inspired me to upgrade too, but i'm going 3 colors :D
@kaossssss I hope that goes well! Let me know what you end up with.
Nylon needs at least 80 deg for 4 hours before you see a moisture content drop. Alot of the dryers don't even reach their desired temps off their panels. Usually the best way is bake for 24-48 hours at 80deg c in oven then continue print from the dry box as they're designed to maintain moisture content not remove moisture content. Thanks for the video polymaker is great filament.
I refreshed my Ender-5 with your firmware with many thanks! I hopped that the auto-home problem, that the hot end is pushed against the middle of the left side rail, is corrected this way, but of course not. How can I change the "Home"-position to the middle of the table the best way? (I modified with Exoslide-sliders anyway, but the hot-end remained the old one.)
The limit switch was bad, actually.
That's an easy fix! Awesome! 👍
The problem partly still exist: it starts to print at the very edge of x, y ~ 0, 0, instead of the Cura position of the model in the middle of the table.
@@Peter-ho1er Check your start gcode. It usually prints a priming line on the edge.
I usually angle my prints so that the side that will not see most has the supports attached. I need this setup!!!! Im aiming to make larger objects and slicing stuff into parts is not an option and is overwhelming my Jupiter SE. There is now a V2 of the MEGA 8K which im looking at or the MEGA 8K S but the M8K V2 has a higher build capacity. Cool vid.
@kerseyfabs I followed your video to a T (Thank you kindly for making it), but I am having the same issue when I try to upload the files using the arduino program; I keep getting the same error message and am not sure what to make of it. I am hoping you might be able to shed some light on the situation for me. I verified the code, but when I try to upload it, I keep getting the same error message: Sketch uses 133356 bytes (52%) of program storage space. Maximum is 253952 bytes. I solved my issue; I just uploaded the .hex file to the mainboard using the card slot instead of the USB port because of the communication problem; it was not the cable. Make sure you remember to format it for 4096 bytes to update the screen, and then switch it to 32Kb to update the mainboard.
Suuuuper helpful! One question, I’m running a CR touch on my printer, is there anything I need to do differently with the wiring or the firmware?
I don't think so. It should be a drop-in replacement.
@@kerseyfabs Outstanding, thanks so much!
Sir you are a true Engineering hero an inspiration to many and a hardworking genuis. This is perfect ❤❤

I updated the firmware with your file, but now I have two issues: The nozzle temperature setting is not being set by the G-code file. I have to adjust it manually before printing. The Power Loss Recovery function is not accurate. After a power failure, there is an offset in the Y-axis. Please help me resolve these issues.
Hey I did the DWIN set and my ender5 reverts to Chinese any ideas? I'm running V2.2 8bit 2560 I got it figured out I only did step 1 out of 2 Rookie mistake
It happens when the board firmware and display firmware get out of sync. That's why I do both in this video.

Did they fix the bl touch/offset issue? I just bought a brand new in the box for $200
Yes. Check my latest video on flashing the firmware.
@kerseyfabs thank you I did. Was $200 worth it for a brand new one?
@@shadowofmike1985 It's a great price for such a large machine. Congrats!
wouldn't it be a thing to put the flex sens in the wrist, like when you bend the wrist up as you were to fire the repulsor like in the movies. that would have been a better solution on the mk3 then bending it with the finger.
It's not a bad idea at all. The only issue is how it work when putting on the suit. There's usually no armor or even a seal around the wrist.
@@kerseyfabs that's a fair point, didn't think about that. i assumed it might be put in something like a frame. such as the prototype repulsors from the first iron man movie.
I wanted so badly for you to stop repeating the same mistake over and over. I know it's difficult stuff to learn and you're brave enough to even attempt this and make a video of it. We've all been there at some time or another. It's a very exciting and fascinating place to be and you've got the passion. I have made and flown drones for years and have really never gotten bored with them. Once you get a flight controller, you'll connect to betaflight. There's a lot to learn ahead of you but it's not impossible. Then you'll be able to correct some issues. You'll look back on this and think how easy it is to properly set up your rig. You'll get there!
At least you didn't get an orange giga
😁 Yeah, I'm still making this one work.
